Do you crochet? You can help the Smithsonian make a Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef.

Here's the pattern for the crocheted hyperbolic plane. I'm not sure how (or if) the coral reef pattern differs.

It seems like the coral reef thing comes with specific instructions about what colors to use and what shapes to ultimately aim for, in an attempt to create crocheted analogues to real coral critters.
