Art Debate: Is Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars written from a dog's point of view or no? [More:]

I contend that it is. To wit, the lyrics:

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden
That's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden
That's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes
They're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things
Will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?
Ha, good topic LT!
I would disagree and say that because the cars are in the speaker's head, they are metaphorical cars and a symbol for pointless and circular thoughts.
I think the point is that the speaker is asking the other person to set some time aside for him and go off into a romantic fantasy land for a while where they can be alone together.

It might be a romantic dog song, I guess. Dogs probably do like thinking about gardens and cars. And they do like lying down. hmm...
No, I still think it's people.

It's definitely the lyrics about the cars and the gardens that make me state my pro-canine exegesis.

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

That sounds a lot more like a cat to me.

Ha, this was our wedding song. (No, we never saw Grey's Anatomy or whatever show made it popular)

Also, for the longest time I thought "I need your grace" was "I need your brakes," which made sense to me since it's about cars.

I am suffering greatly from an unrequited crush. || Tomboy Style
