Wastin' away again in Brat-and-Beer-a-ville This is a whining thread. I am being completely useless. Please hope.[More:]I was sick with a cold on Friday and stayed home. Yesterday we went to my parents' house, fixed their internet, and that was about all I could stand. I feel better but am ornery and don't have a lot of energy. Now I'm on the couch, alone for the foreseeable future. My partner is at work until 10:30, it is 89 degrees out, it's dark and I'm wearing sunglasses...

No, wait. That's the Blues Brothers.

I have the air conditioning on, and I should probably knit something (like the pair of socks that should have been done in a timely manner but still need a second heel). No movies I want to see are playing in the theater.

You guuuuuuys. My body clock is off, my mind is cranky and I need to get out of this funk.

Suggestions?

Dude. I totally had brats and beer today. It was sublime. Rock that.

Also, stretching helps me. As does Getting Things Done.

I envy your air conditioner.

But anyway, we just had 17 people over for a BBQ and I am looking at a whole lot of cleanup. So that is my whine du jour.

Getting Shit Done does help me a lot, but it's super had to start when I'm in a similar state. So I start with A List. I write down all the stuff I feel like I'm slacking on, then I start the easiest item on the list. That momentum keeps me going and I feel way better.

I will not be Getting Shit Done today. I have a cold, a minor hangover, and no energy. Plus, it's cold and cloudy, which never helps. Fuck it.

Yep. And a list helps, at times, but depending on your state it also can be overwhelming. Another option is to just leave the house and go outside with no plan other than to wander. I swear I'm also helped by marveling in the beauty of my surroundings. Even when I have to make up beauty from things I don't see as beauty. It's like coaxing yourself to have a more positive outlook.

More than anything, though, be gentle to yourself. Loving kindness towards your body and mind.
