Regarding Whelks question: I have a hard time imagining the technicalities taking place.
But there are definitely guys that are pleasing to the eye in a secretly feeling I'd like to look like them way. It's a bit similar to the way a little boy looks at the hero in an adventure story. The heroic gladiator, the heroic captain, the heroic knight.
Russell Crowe often plays characters like that btw.

I'm not sure if I'd say it was a crush, but seeing Vincent D'Onofrio on the screen just makes me laugh and feel good. At first it was because of how he played the ridiculous Detective Goren on L&O:CI, but after that I learned he was the bad guy in the Cell, the suicide in Full Metal Jacket, the noseless drug lord in Salton Sea... There's something just so absurd about him and his roles that it makes me smile.

Also, as a TV character, Dr Romano in ER. I always felt sorry for him, he was so in love with Dr Corday and, despite being an utter bastard to all around him, every now and then there'd be a small glimpse of humanity. Maybe that's also why Dwight Schrute is my favourite character in The Office.
