Man, did you guys see these MeTa and AskMe threads? Got a little misty over the kindness and community and humanity. Thanks, everybody.
Oh wait, I see it linked in Melismata's thread. Well, anyway, check it out if you haven't!

My biggest surprise was that Katherineg came back as Internet Fraud Detective Squad! That's like finding out that Bruce Willis was a ghost all along!

It's sort of viraling out into the gawker/boingboing/kottke realms. . .It'll be interesting to see if it gets picked up my any major non-online media.

I talked to Mother Jones today who seemed annoyed because I wouldn't give them everyone's names, but yeah I think we'll see something in print.

Woah. I just read the whole thing start to finish, went from shaking with nerves to straight out weepy with relief. Amazing.

Wow - it's on the Newsweek blog, in a very clear writeup. I think there's a MeFite at Newsweek but I don't recognize this blogger's name.

Seems like a natural "Talk of the Town" piece in New Yorker. Wasn't it Rebecca Mead who used to mention MeFi in some of her pieces?

I've been following this thread, offered help, sent money, and keep hoping everything turns out for the best. While I was terrified for these girls, I was really touched by how many people reached out to help and I needed to see it today. Seriously, it restored a lot of my faith that was lost this past year watching my mother care for her ailing bf of 4 years 24/7 while his family has done NOTHING at all to help. This reminded me that people can be so amazingly heroic.
