Why are farts so funny? And why do I laugh so hard I cry when a stupid dog is involved?

This is one of those philosophical questions where I suspect the answer is that our concept of "funny" is derived out of the social aspects of farting ... as much as anything.

I laughed hysterically at this video. And I laugh whenever my dog farts and shoots across the room like a rocket.

Aww a red heeler, I love those dogs. My (belated and much missed) ACD used to look incredibly guilty after farting and try to skulk out of the room without anyone noticing. By contrast, my lab has absolutely no sense of shame and has contact-farted while sitting on my foot.

My dog also has absolutely no sense of shame when she blows farts in my general and specific direction. That's part of what made this video so freaking funny to me.
