I guess I never heard this guy. I liked Black Sabbath a lot, but only during the Ozzy years (and mainly only the first 2 albums at that).

Re: Eideteker's link: I remember buying that Kerry Livgren album back in the early 80s, soon after it was released, because I was a Kansas fan, and thinking that the RJD track was the coolest of the bunch.

It's too bad that Livgren has turned into kind of a douchebag in his dotage.

Anyway, at the school I went to Dio was considered verboten because of his "occult" leanings and former membership in Black Sabbath (gasp!). I listened to him because I dug the (okay, corny) images of otherworldly beings that populated his songs. Rainbow in the Dark still rocks.
