Right now I'm listening to birds chirping and the wind through the trees.[More:] Typically it's a lot noisier -- the train makes a hell of a racket coming off the bend into the station and the weekend construction usually provides a backdrop of jackhammers, shouts, and backing up trucks -- so I play music to drown the blare.

Today it's quiet, and though I have some songs I'd like to put on, I think I like what I'm listening to a little better. Though I gotta say, The Attractions, Elvis Costello's old band, were amazing; every part is loud and clear.
I've gotta admit, I am a tiny bit surprised that you can have such tranquil sound in the big city. I am however, pleased by this.

That's lovely.

Some soul-type music quietly playing low in the background goes very well with summer-night sounds.

Oh lovely.

A couple of my friends went hot-air ballooning yesterday. They were surprised at how peaceful it was up there too, except for the blasts of hot air bit.

I'd love to sit in a quiet field and listen to the sounds and the quiet.

Oh wow, those moments when nature intersects urban life are just so magical. We've got a freeway a couple of blocks from our apartment, but we've also got trees galore. There's something about hearing birdsongs against the white noise of the freeway that gives me goosebumps.
