What happened, danf? Did the relationship survive?

It was this thing where maybe we were going to be a couple, maybe not and it didn't happen but I had wanted to go see Howard the Duck, for some reason, and we were at this wedding reception (we'd both gone there alone) and danced, and I said, I'm splitting to go see this movie, so she came along, and she despised it; was rather upset by it, and I merely hated it.

Anyway, was not the fatal blow but it did not help.

enjoy Howard the Duck

I do not understand this language you are speaking. Perhaps shouting will magically convey the meaning of my superior foreign language to your ears:

WHAT THE FUCK?!
Er, no I say NO.

I've already "enjoyed" it once.
And as Dubya says, I won't be fooled again.

Listening to Celine Dion's entire discography while eating a salad made of broken glass, razorblades and haberno peppers. Dressing up like Master Shake and having sex with a wheat thresher. Watching every episode of Coach in one sitting, changing my name to Dauber and starting a cult based around the worship of Craig T Nelson. Three things that I will do before I choose to watch Howard the Duck again.
Just yesterday, I read the following in John Gardner's The Art of Fiction: Notes on Craft for Young Writers:

In theory it may be proper that teachers ignore thrillers, science fiction, and the comic books. No one wants Coleridge pushed from the curriculum by a duck "trapped in a world he never made!" But when we begin to list the contemporary "serious" writers who fill highschool [sic] and literature courses, Howard the Duck can look not all that bad.

Yes, I realize he's speaking of the comic book, not the movie. Still, the coincidence of bumping into Howard the Duck twice in 20 hours is pretty delicious.

I enjoyed the the comic, but even I knew enough to avoid the movie.

For some values of the word "enjoy".

Once was enough, thanks.

Howard the Duck? No thanks. Duckman? Maybe. I seem to recall having somewhat fond memories.

But I've got 'Crazy Heart' to watch tonight, so that'll have to wait a bit.
