24 April 2010

Trying not to have a spoiled North American moment here, but... I just spent over two hours picking out the perfect upholstery fabric from an online fabric store... only to find when I went to order that they don't ship to Canada. Sigh.
grrrrr. What was the make?

I'm pretty sure this is a NAFTA violation.

It was called Richview or something like that. Such a shame when the price was unbelievably good — $7 a metre. However, if they don't want my business, they don't want it. Perhaps they're afraid that I'll insist on paying in Canadian Tire money or something.

But after more browsing (and rest assured I made certain a fabric site shipped to Canada before I spent any time looking at their stock), I have found and ordered another lovely fabric.

Here is the fabric which will be used to upholster the headboard and make curtains. Here is the rug that is already in the room. Here is the poster that is découpaged on the front of a chest of drawers in the room. The room is painted cream and the bedspread and beskirt are a dark olive green. It should work!

The colours in the rug photo are not very good. The wine colour that you see onscreen is much more of a cranberry in actuality, and the whole thing is just lighter in tone generally. Pottery Barn doesn't carry the Cecil rug anymore, so it was difficult to find a good picture of it online.

Was going to say, if you're in that situation again I'll happily order it here and ship it to you and you can spot me for costs/postage.

I found the perfect dress online today, to find they only ship within the UK. And the only other store I could find it didn't have my size. Thankfully I have a UK friend who has a bunch of stuff to ship to Anchorage anyway. Win!

Oh my, that really is the perfect dress, I want that!

So hey, if anyone ever has any trouble with stuff found in Europe that won't ship to the states (or Canada), don't even hesistate, use my Malmö address that's always listed here, and I'll be happy to ship it on to you. I totally know what this feels like. You can bribe me with a package of reeses peanut butter cups. :)

What a cute dress, rhapsodie! It's very Mad Men.

Dabitch, is there no way to buy Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in Europe?

Oh, there is, you can trek to the American stores and buy p the stock there every six months... eh... Like I do ;) The only thing impossible to buy in Europe now is Pall Mall red (the ones without filter). ...but yaknow, some folks might not be comfortable buying that

I'll play reshipper from Canada. Just pay shipping and "handling" charges. ;-P

Just kidding about handling charges.

That dress rhapsodie showed us is awesome. SO awesome. I'm bribing a friend to re-ship it to me here. :))

Maybe one needs to start a re-ship.com network?
