11 April 2010

I feel as if my brother-in-law is visiting through a time warp. [More:] My 19-year-old son came home from college for the weekend. He's worn is hair quite long for a long time... two, three years.

My wife noticed he had an irreconcilable knot in his hair, and insisted that if he can't comb his hair it has to come off. So she took him to SuperDuperHairCuts or whatever cheapie haircut place is open on Sundays.

Now he's sporting a short haircut that looks like it will be a mullet in a couple of weeks, which is the way my wife's brother was wearing his hair when I got married 25 years ago. Plus, bro-in-law had the scruffy stach & beard thing going, same as my son. Add to the mix that they're both tall & skinny and kind of move similarly, it's like seeing the teenaged version of my wife's brother again...

It's creepy, is what it is.
The important question, I figure, is "do you like your brother-in-law?". I'm guessing it'd be much more unpleasant a feeling if you didn't!

richat has a point!

My brother sounds so much like my Dad it confuses me sometimes. Especially because my Dad has been gone almost 6 years.

My son and I sound so much alike that my ex- (his mom) can't tell us apart on the phone.

Well, I like my son better than I like my bro-in-law. Let's leave it at that.
