"Rolling phone boxes"... One reason Los Angeles is so bad at protecting its historical icons is that many of those icons looked awful (some still do; seriously, the HOLLYWOOD SIGN?)... of course, another reason is that L.A. is a city of MORONS. (I can say that now, having moved out 4 1/2 years ago, after living there 44 years... when your time out of L.A. exceeds 10% of the time you lived there, you're no longer required to defend it and pretty much expected to attack it.)
