Urban skiing While I was hiding out in my house, some of my city's residents were doing stupid things on skis and snowboards.→[More:]The first section is at U of Pitt, the building at the bottom of the stairs was my undergraduate department when I was going there. Skiing down Mt. Washington in the second section seems pretty dumb since it's a 400' cliff and if you fell, the EMS teams were all stuck in the snow that weekend.

I enjoyed watching that. They did a nice job putting it together, and it was cool seeing them do this with a Pittsburgh backdrop. Mt. Washington is pretty impressive. But its stupidness is kind of contextual: these guys would be right at home in Northern New England. The only part that looked unusually dangerous to me was skiing close to those large concrete bridge supports. Concrete is harder and bigger than trees or trestles, and that poses an intimidating hazard.

That video is pretty cool. I just showed it to my Pittsburgh-native husband, who agreed that the skiing down Mt. Washington was pretty nutty. I was impressed by the production value. Great find, octothorpe! I would've been with you, holed up at home nursing a hot chocolate and cursing the snow.
