Heimo's Arctic Refuge "In 1980, Jimmy Carter established the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in the Alaskan Interior. Only six families of white settlers were grandfathered in and allowed to keep cabins in the refuge—of them, only one still stays there year-round living off the land. His name is Heimo Korth." (via)

I found this the other day and have been watching the episodes as they come. I wish they were longer.

Heimo and his wife seem like nice people living a pretty interesting life.

Thanks for the warning -- I'm up to part 3. I don't know why I have such an attraction to living in the wilderness stuff; I suppose it's a reaction to being a lifelong small town/suburbanite with electricity and flush toilets and stuff.
