I need a word to describe people who obstruct pedestrian spaces by stepping aimlessly around while talking on a mobile phone.[More:]

"I would have got here sooner but the celligaggers were mobimooching around in my way. Why is everyone mobillydallying around these days?"
I call them "boot fodder".

or you could just go for the gusto and call them cellstands.

celligaggers is perfect. That's what I'm going to all them from here on out.

Hah. I read this earlier and just a few minutes ago when I was getting off the bus, the woman in front of me stopped dead right in front of the doors to check her Blackberry. I had to throw myself to the left to keep from running her over.

octothorpe, I've heard that referred to as a Blackberry jam. (I think it might only apply to the DC Metro though.)

In Moscow, if you're in the way of someone walking, they push you out of the way with their hands. I've been pushed that way. Maybe there's a Russian word?
(avoiding pun on name of country)

I think I need to buy some steel-toecapped boots and follow gomichild's lead...

Wow, octothorpe, she would have gotten my elbow in her ear.

Sometimes when I'm in a mood, I lean in to their phone and shout to the person on the other end of the line, "I fuck dogs!" leaving the moblivious with some 'splainin' to do. People generally react negatively to this.

Then I regret being a random asshole and go buy flowers for someone who needs cheering up, so it all evens out in the end.

Heh, from google translate:

obstacle (english)
przeszkoda (polish)
prepreka (croatian)
пречка/prečka (macedonian)
hindrun (icelandic)
перешкода/pereshkoda (ukranian)
hindernis (afrikaans)
bhac (irish)
...and I don't even know how to begin to pronounce this one: rhwystr (welsh)

...

We may need to bring back the phone booth. I smell a business opportunity. Have a stall set up, you pay a few quarters to get in, and nobody bugs you when you're telling your buddies you're on the way to the bar.

Is this the place where I can complain about people who talk on the phone while using the treadmill/stairstepper/elliptical at the gym? I'm trying to zone out while I train at 6:30 in the morning and I can hear your stupid conversation through my earphones.

Is there something wrong with "asshole"?

Not portmanteau-ish enough.

I think I rather like "moblivious."

This is just to note that I hereby favourite Hugh Janus's comment. I normally just bump right into them and yell "Sorry!" in a totlly un-sorry fashion but all that's gonna change...

Ooh, "moblivious" is good.
