do you get this? Being nervous but not sure what about? I got a lot of things to work on, a lot of gaps to close, a lot of thinking and resolving to do but none of it is actually *pressing* so it's strange to be repeatedly in temporary states of bother about nothing in particular.[More:]
on the upside, if a sabre-toothed tiger leaps at me right now, I'm totes keyed up enough to dagger its throat. GET AT ME DAWG.
Yes. All my life. Generalized Anxiety. If it's a short term thing, bouts of hard exercise bring me relief. The only other things I can suggest are hydrotherapy of some form - if you can't swim/float/get to a hot tub, a bath or shower might help - that or sex-type activities.

If it is chronic, you can talk to your doctor. Many doctors equate anxiety and depression. While is the case for many, it is not for me, and it took some looking around to find someone who would treat me as a patient with anxiety seperate from depressive symptoms. If you don't know your blood pressure, check it. If it is high, that's another reason to think about a doctor visit.

I'm not trying to diagnose you, but rather assure you that what you describe is well within the realm of the human condition. There are worse things to have or go through. Because, hey, you never know. Tigers happen.

This sounds like anxiety. I'm glad it doesn't freak you out, because it leads to panic attacks for some (like my wife). She can get tense over having an inevitable task ahead of her, and sometimes it's really nothing important. She can say so, but it doesn't make her any less anxious.

On preview - rainbaby, floating helps you? Interesting, my wife loves taking baths, even when she's not anxious. They're nice and all, but she's a big fan. I never thought it could relate to her anxiety.

Thanks Rainbaby. Yeah I didn't post it like an AskMecha thing or a diagnose-me-randomly thing more of a chatty thing. It's not really intense for me at this point. In fact (not to get too detailed about all my neuroses lol) but it helps me snap back from procrastination and be like DAMN let's get back to reality. In a way it's almost like my conceptual ability to define and get a hold of things these days masters any tendency to dive into wallowing. Being emotionally grounded helps I suppose.

I heard this great thing from a dude at a techy conference a couple years ago: "If you can define a problem, you can solve it." It's a bit blithe and assumptive but for some reasons 'turns of phrase' work well in helping me think about things (Actions Have Consequences, What Will They Say At Your Funeral, etc.)

I've just been transitioning from being very self involved to having a more holistic model of one's interactions in the world and it's ironically helping me make better personal decisions too in terms of getting from Point A to B. Involves a lot of mulling though.

filthy light theif - I love water, to the point of going out in the rain and getting soaked if the weather is appropriate. It does relax me. I can't quote Science about it, but it feels good. I don't have panic attacks, either, the closest to that is an occasional flight reaction to escape a dense crowd. Baths may relax your wife, or she may just be an anxious person who likes baths. Either way, you know what to get her for special occasions, so it's all good!

Firas - yeah. It has its uses. That's good you can embrace that side of it, and sounds to me like a good way to look at things.

Happens to me all the time. Sometimes they scale up to full panic attacks where I cannot do or think anything. But I suspect this general thing is more of a Being A Human Being thing. You should be fine.

erm, this is my normal state of being, or would be without medication.
