They always get you on the tax evasion. Stolen property. If you steal property, you must report its fair market
value in your income in the year you steal it unless in the same year, you
return it to its rightful owner.
And if the property stolen has a cash value of $100 or more, you're eligible to win a free boat!

Oh good, I'm in the middle of my taxes at the moment.

By 'return', do they mean in the same condition?

Can I return it on 12/31 and resteal it on 1/1?

What if I return it, but they don't want it, and just give it back to me? Is it a gift then? And when i say "I return it, but they didn't want it," I meant I left it in a box on their door, marked with my address as the recipient, so they would think it was erroneously dropped on their doorstep, and I then come by telling them that the post office sent me to their house to get the box.

Well, when I was driving that stolen car home, I had to turn, and then I had to return. Does that count? I kept a written record.
