Medicalchat: 68 hours after a stitched up lip →[More:] Would it be safe/not safe to wear make-up? I busted my lip open last night, got it stitched up, and I have a show on Friday night. Can I wear make-up over the (dissolving kind of) stitches at that point? I'm assuming (closed lip) kissing is out due to germ passing risk? Will I still need to be carefull moving my mouth for talking? Think saying tounge twisters loudly. Safe/not?

Well, if the show must go on, how about food coloring (think cake writing pens) instead of actual wax and stuff?

And try not to move the lips between now and then? Give it lots of time to heal?

Yeah, ow. That doesn't sound happy.

ow ow ow. I dunno about makeup, maybe go buy a (new) tinted lipgloss that you haven't used before that day?

The reason I say this is that most any makeup dries my lips out more, so that's kinda the last thing you need right now.

That said, that area of the face heals very quickly so you might be okay, depending on the extent of the injury. cocoa butter and/or vitamin E ointment helps, btw.

IANAD and IANYD, so you might want to, you know, ask your doctor :)

Hmmm I wonder whether you could use some sort of bandaid/tape/cover over the actual cut and then makeup over it? Maybe give a sharpie foundation on the bandaid? If it's stage, then depending on the stage it might be totally invisible. Or this may be wildly impractical.
