pop-up hell So I'm running Firefox v3.6 & suddenly I'm getting pop-up invasion. I'm also running ABP, there are no current updates I haven't installed.→[More:]

The pop-ups have the firefox logo on the top bar of the window, but say Windows Internet Explorer. I did a full system virus scan with AVG (free version) last night; no viruses.

So WTF? How can I return to pop-up free bliss?

Malware! See if you can download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free version) and run it. It's very good.

Here's a similar problem and solution - Combofix, which I had to use once and which worked like a charm.

I had that recently. Try running malwarebytes. I'd also used combofix, which stopped the problem but still left something behind.
