Very cool!

This made me think of the big rock at Shiprock, New Mexico, which the local native American tribe (I forget which one) used to believe was a ship that brought them down to earth.

That one's probably not really from outer space, but it IS beautiful.

I totally read that as "scared stones". I need to get my eyes checked.

Anyway, love the King Tut scarab!

Though weighing only 757 grams under 2 lbs), the meteorite’s great speed was more than enough to send the unfortunate bovine to “meat” its maker.

I once saw a meteorite strike the ground. It must have been very small because it was traveling fairly slow. At first I thought it was somebody shooting a flare gun. But the trajectory was a straight line. I took a bearing on it (just for luck). It must have landed about half a mile away from me.

The next day, a friend told me he saw it, too. And he took a bearing from his location. That gave us a rough fix. We called the astronomy department at the University of Michigan. They couldn't have cared less.
