I had a Throwback Mountain Dew last night. It was really good.
I love the can, but Mountain Dew, in any form, is purest swill.

I had completely forgotten that the label ever looked like that.

Had a friend say that throwback Pepsi is also good.

I wish I could try all these real-sugared-like-they-were-back-in-the-day drinks, but ... I gotta stick with the no-sugar stuff. I can actually stomach Coke Zero. Meh.

I tried a Pepsi Throwback and I didn't notice much of a difference. (Then again, I grew up on the HCFS version. My dad swears that he noticed when Twinkies changed.)

I'm so glad all our soft drinks are made with sugar. Except the diet ones, of course. Pepsi Max rules.

Except Irn Bru, made with boiled earwax. I love it so.

It makes me sad that drink recipes pre-1970s are considered "throwback." Are they less sweet, or do they use more sugar to off-set the increased sweetness of HFCS? Regardless, I'll try it, because Mt. Dew I rather like it as it is, and I like trying odd foods.

Re: Twinkies - I go through multi-year cycles, where I'll have one, forgetting that they're not really that good, and not eat another for a few more years, when I'll have another and re-set the clock. Also, new "old" banana Twinkies were really weird, and not in a good way.

And the Throwback Coke has real cocaine in it! Awesome.

Any word on how "limited" these drinks are going to be, and/or if they'll be expanding their markets to other cities?

My mother once bought a box of those banana ones (by mistake, she claims) and my dad almost died from disgust. (This is the man who has had Cheerios every morning and a fried baloney sandwich on white bread with mustard plus a Twinkie and a banana for lunch EVERY DAY for the past IDK how many years.)

I remember they only had the Throwback Pepsi in my grocery stores for something like 2 months. And now it's gone.

"In the end, cocaine — just like sugar — is a natural substance that’s been a part of this planet for millennia,” said Ralph Faber, president of Unprocess Food Now (UFN), a consumer advocacy group. “In principal, we don’t have a problem with this, but we’re going to monitor the situation carefully, and if we find out at some point that they’ve been using corn syrup, you can be sure we’ll be right on top of it.”
So, they're OK with cocaine in a soft drink, but not corn syrup. Am I missing something here?

I'd consider joining the Collyer Brothers Club for Throwback Mountain Dew.
