Monty Python Brainstorming I might be moving soon, and this means I can finally realize a dream of mine, one that I have had for many many years...
[More:]
I want a Monty Python bathroom.

The trick is, I don't want anything OVERTLY Python in it. Nothing specifically Python branded, just references and hints to Python themes. What I want is a room where you get a nagging sense of something familiar... until it hits you!

For instance:

I want to paint the walls that sort of parchment color from the opening credits, with the red and blue flowers in the corners for accent. The door would have a plaque outside that said "Intermission", and I have been working on a way to get the music to play when you closed the door. An can of Spam on the shelf, a cage with a stuffed parrot in it, a framed photo of an albatross or "The Birth of Venus", etc. You see where I am going with this?

What's your favorite Python image?
Dinsdale?

Or how about just keeping a pair of pepper-pots on the shelf with the framed photo?

Clearly you need a hovercraft-full-of-eels bath toy.

What is the name of the art piece - Venus? The one that Gilliam animated, long haired lovely woman sitting in a clamshell or something? It would look totally appropriate in a classy bathroom. Ah yes, here it is.

Yeah, I was thinking that you could decoupage some Gilliam-type images all over the place - maybe hidden in subtle corners to avoid overkill.

I would be tempted to work in an old-fashioned TV console (or facsimile of one --- maybe doll up the frame of the medicine chest or a cabinet) and atop it, place a small stuffed penguin.

And maybe a map of Burma.

And a tiny stencil on the mirror reading "SPOT THE LOONEY."

Oh, and you definitely need a shrubbery.

The style of the flowers is something oyu should be able to replicate as a border. Get some matching small picture frames and put in pictures that reference your favorite shows, like a cheese shop.

This is a brilliant idea. Make it subtle, and reward those who spot it.

Or, if you can't find this, perhaps a Hungarian phrase book for some light reading.

And a cushion. Nobody expects that....

By dropping a 16-ton weight on them.

Exactly. To further warbaby... you need a comfy chair.

Not really very friendly toward film making. || I can't sleep.
