Your pal, John K. Animator and mad genius John Kricfalusi's (Ren & Stimpy, George Liquor, etc) letter (with illustrations!) to an aspiring 14-year-old animator.
I saw this a couple days ago and was amazed at how much info he provided! It's pretty cool that there are people out there who will do stuff like this.

Of course, I was only amazed after I got over my disappointment that the letter was NOT from The Weakerthans' John K. Samson.

John K's website is an amazing resource for budding cartoonists and illustrators and, really, anyone with an interest in the craft and history of animation.

This may be a good place to mention that the late-80s "New Adventures of Mighty Mouse," which was the work of not only John K. but also folks who went on to work at Pixar, on The Simpsons and Batman: The Animated Series, is out on DVD now.

I hadn't seen JK's website, Atom Eyes- thanks!

I am so not surprised to see that Wil Wheaton is one of the earliest commenters on the AMA.

I am also fighting nostalgia because two of my ex-boyfriends were huge Ren & Stimpy fans. Does that say something about my taste in male partners?
