RIP Vic Chesnutt, who as most of you know died by his own hand on Xmas day. In case you missed it, Terry Gross did an incredible memorial show for Chesnutt last week on
Fresh Air. You can listen to it
here.

Gross had just done an interview with Chesnutt in early December, which was fantastic in itself. The first half of this memorial show plays excerpts from that interview, and it's chilling how different some of his comments sound just a few weeks later, given his suicide so soon after.
The second half of the show features Guy Picciotto of Fugazi, Michael Stipe, and filmmaker Jem Cohen, who were all friends of Chesnutt's, reminiscing about him (sometimes very emotionally) and each telling their favorite Chesnutt song (which Gross then plays on the air). It's one of the most moving things I've ever heard on
Fresh Air.
