My Favorite Out of Context WTF Quotes What are yours??
[More:]"He did NOT just run over Sasquatch on the moon!" - First thing my husband said to me yesterday morning.

"Deceased dog’s condition upgraded to alive" - Seattle Police Department News Blotter

"Future pie is of no use to me. It's like a jet pack! -Me
I think I posted this story here once before. But it's my favorite out of context wtf quote, so I have to tell it again.

One day Mrs. Beese went to a fish market to get us ingredients for dinner. They told her that representatives from Pearl Jam - who were performing in town - had called them to ask if they had any sea bass. The market had mistakenly told them: No. So now, thanks to the goof, they could sell the sea bass to her. As she and I are both huge Seinfeld fans, I wondered aloud if we had just bought "Jon Voight's car".

But it turned out to be as succulent a piece of fish as I've ever had. Melt-in-your-mouth stuff. "Better luck next time, Eddie!" I crowed with satisfaction - addressing Mr. Vedder. "Maybe you can write a song about it!"

But in my piscatorial triumph, I failed to notice my whippet Reggie inching towards the coffee table. By the time I noticed him, he stood poised to steal a lick of the buttery platter. "No!" I cried in a panic...

"Not the Pearl Jam fish!"

Family non sequiturs. WE have many.

My grandmother once came over for dinner. We were having something like meatloaf and green beans. We offered her a second portion. "No thanks," she said. "That was a big banana."

...turned out she had eaten some preternaturally large banana before dinner, and for that reason wasn't hungry. My grandmother passed away over twenty years ago; but we still refer to any non sequitur as a "big banana."

I can't even recall how this started, but LT will occasionally turn to me and say "lobster head." It's an endearment. It was based on some serious mention of a lobster head, but the origins are lost in the mists of time.

My husband and I use "oh yeah?" and "so there!" as terms of love and endearment. I'm still not sure why, but it works for us, especially on stressful days.

Oh yeah?! So there!!
(means "I love you" and "I love you, too", we're just both having a crappy day.)

Years ago, lying in the bedroom on our crap futon during the Sydney Olympics with the light from Centerpoint Tower shining in through balcony and illuminating the mozzies whining outside the netting over the bed, I turned to my husband and said "It's a bit like camping, really...". I meant the mosquito net and the fact that we were lying with our heads at the foot of the bed (due to the light which was shining right in my face the other way round) and that it was the sort of ad-hoc sleeping arrangement one tends to have in a tent.

It made perfect sense to me, but he had no idea what I was going on about and so the phrase pops up from time to time as a bit of a WTF marker in conversation.
