Things you've bought recently [More:]I just got back from a part of the neighborhood that I don't usually go to that was awash with discount stores! I bought 2 lint rollers, a drain stopper for the tub, chocolates (is that gross?), undershirts to sleep in, and an eyebrow razor to give as a crappy yankee swap present. Oh and Advil and a scented candle. Last week I bought snow boots and little grass tube/house for the bunny to play in and chew on.
Just unwrapped it for him but he seems to have no interest so far. Ingrate.

What did you get?
Because of snow I haven't used the car since Tuesday, so the only shopping I did was yesterday when I bought some cheese, milk and bread on the walk home from work.

And I think I have lost my (really expensive) framed backpack :-( Unless it's under my desk at work, I don't know where it could be. The only thing I can think of is last week I used it, and I was in the car park at the station. I had to scrape off my car, and it's possible I drove off and left it in the car park. So I might have to buy a new one. It's a special women's backpack, so the frame is shorter than normal. :-(

Six yards of cream/natural burlap, for making new curtains. The old ones are soft blue-green burlap, and when we bought a new candy-apple red couch, we decided to change all the accents in the room. We bought the couch during the ramp-up to the holidays, so I'm just now getting started on the projects.

A few days ago, we went to the big grocery store while I was hungry, just to pick up a few essentials: bread, milk, eggs, onions. Apparently, every time I mentioned some [weird impulse item/ craving/ thing we never buy], he picked it up and put it in the basket.

Later, I was puttering in the kitchen and every time I opened a cupboard or door, I started laughing in surprise! Pantry cupboard: smoked oysters, tuna. Fridge: egg nog and Coca Cola. Freezer: fancy ice cream. Snacks: the hugest bag of potato chips!

So, just the essentials: milk, eggs, onions, smoked seafood, chips, ice cream, and nog.

The other day, I ordered a Jen Corace pin from Tiny Showcase.

Today, I bought some beer and fried chicken.

My most recent purchases were an Ernie (from Sesame Street) doll for my little nephew, a couple poseable snap-together mounted knights for the older one, a sweater for my sister-in-law, a pair of corduroy pants for my dad, and a real nice white leather guitar strap that I then commissioned a cartoonist friend to decorate, for my brother.

A replacement power supply for my LaCie external hard drive. They're known to die young, apparently.

I did a big grocery shop yesterday, so we are adequately provisioned for when the apocalypse comes. Other than groceries, I have been purchasing lots of dog-related accoutrement: crate, leashes, treats, collar, food and more toys than you can shake a stick at.

A two-volume set on Jewish history (The Rise and Fall of the Judaean State) that my brother wanted. Jon picked it up for me, half-price ($7.50 total) with his discount. My brother (the lawyer) hasn't been feeling well (Chrones, shingles), and I was glad we were able to find the books for him.

New jeans and a wallet for Jon (the wallet was a belated Christmas present).

I also went shopping with my mom about a week ago over break and bought a few things for the house (I haven't let myself buy much lately, so this was a splurge; I go all week without spending five dollars sometimes -- trying to save): a new mattress pad and jersey cotton sheets in chocolate brown (so comfy); new shower curtain, hooks, and nonslip stickers for the bottom of the tub. I didn't get the nonslip stickers down in time, though; Jon slipped in the tub again this morning and banged his elbow. Poor fellow. He's okay, though. The tub will be taken care of this weekend.

I went out yesterday looking for yoga pants [or some sort of workout pants that I can wear to the gym because for some reason I am self-conscious about having hairy legs even though no one cares]. I came home with....

[only $1.25!] And a little stuffed smileyface in a mortarboard hat for my friend who just graduated from college [$.75]. And another pair of house slippers for guests [more boring dude slippers, $1.50] and no yoga pants, but I went snowshoeing today which is less of a problem hairy legs-wise.

I recently bought a new pair of glasses for working. They are black plastic and nerdy! I likes. But I think the guy testing my eyes suspects I'll be needing them for more than just working on a computer. I could see everything much sharper. Damn aging process!

I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver my copy of "The Decorative Art of Japanese Food Carving: Elegant Garnishes for All Occasions" so I can make my food prettier. The neat thing about Japanese garnishing is you are expected to eat them.

This is my level now so lots to work on! (Made to decorate osechi)

Old Navy had a sale that was something like 70% off clearance and I managed to pick up a cute sundress (which I have no occasion to wear, but it was so pretty and less than $10), a pair of workout pants (that I'll have to cut off the bottoms of, but that's not a big deal), a sleeveless dressy top, and a trusty blouse for work for under $40.

Yes, but it the good kind of nuts. Drummers have to come from somewhere.

I bought this coat in black on the 5th and received it on Thursday. Yesterday I bought some ProGreens stuff that you mix into smoothies. Today I bought some groceries (chicken breasts, canned tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, Parmesan, onion, garlic, granny smith apples, maple syrup, elbow pasta, pecans, beer, vanilla ice cream, Diet Coke, juice).

I want to buy these sneakers. I have been eying them for a couple weeks. I'll probably get them.

Groceries today - kind of a lot since I only got back into town this week and my fridge is empty and I've been craving fresh fruit and veg. Also a cake stand and some plates and bowls. And I finally bit the bullet and ordered some boots.

Three voodoo dolls. Yes, really. They were at the movie theatre in one of those candy/toy machines for $2 each. They're quite cute.

And thanks for the thread. I need to buy rat food and keep forgetting (I get it online).

Today I have bought nothing, hurrah. Yesterday I bought beer and cigarettes and on Saturday I went to the grocery store and managed to spend $75 on two little boxes containing cat food and beef short ribs (I am dying to try this from my askme question last week) and, oh lord, what else? Sour cream, dish soap, jam. Apples and onions and broccoli. Anchovies. Stuff that should not have added up to that much money. Ah well. Last week I bought $50 worth of fish - live fish!
