Brian Eno's first album outside of Roxy Music was a weird, drony, hypnotic thing he created with guitarist Robert Fripp that they called No Pussyfooting. Legend has it that the first time it was played on radio, the station got the tape spooled backwards and played it that way. Eno is said to have called the station only to be told, "Dude, who the fuck can tell?" (I'm paraphrasing.)
When No Pussyfooting finally came out on CD this year, Eno and Fripp honored this weird radio mistake by including both sides played backwards, as well as the first side at half-speed.
The first side of the album, called "The Heavenly Music Corporation," is the best part.
You can hear the difference here...The Heavenly Music Corporation and reversed. (I admit I like the way the reversed version seems to be leading to a crisis... )
