Yeah, really good, but it's so hard to resist my get-off-the-lawn-ness. If practice hours and effort were a currency, it would take, say, 10 units for a youngish kid in his early twenties to master these amazing skills, whereas it would take someone my age (late thirties-ish) at least 100 units. So my admiration only goes about as far as my admiration for the positive qualities of youth in general.
The music, whatever it is, doesn't help much. It sounds a LOT like Jane's Addiction, which was what I listened when I was such a young but woefully-less-motivated-and-skilled punk.
Good for you kids, get off my fucking lawn, and may you do far better than me. In fact, I plead that you do -- the world certainly needs it. Just don't keep ripping off Jane's Addiction -- that's some sacred stuff, goddammit.
Loving the bike work but wow! I was struck by the fact that every location that is post WW2 is so mind fuckingly ugly! It's like it was made to tell you that you are just a cog in the machine.
And my gomfl moment was the roof top thing. I kept thinking "you know how fragile a flat roof is and how much damage water can do?"
Yeah, I think that is more than just youthful qualities - there is a considerable amount of talent there (even though you don't see the 9,999 time he fell trying all those tricks).
As someone who is more prone than most to yell about lawns to young 'uns, I say keep up the good work and you can hang out on my lawn any time.
for me the OMGWOW!! moment is the little "throwaway" clip of him doing a 180º into a back manual (wheelie) and just rolling around backwards, for, like, a really long time all casual like.
as someone who's tried it, multiple times, even with a fixie (and that's seriously cheating) to no avail, do you even REALISE how fucking hard that is??? no? well then.
also "the funeral" is about a four year old indie pop track. I'd say they're pretty much the Pearl Jam of the millenial set. Funny that. I was in a shop with a younger (post-college) friend of mine today. There was a Pearl Jam tshirt there being sold as New and Shiny, Retro Style. I joked by saying "yea, Pearl Jam: depressing the masses since 1989..."
