Merry Christmas from the other side of the world!!! [More:]Well, it's almost over here so I guess it should be starting for you guys. Hope you have fun out there and get some good old presents... thinking of which, what's the best Christmas present you've ever got, and, what's the worse?
The art work that we've got on looks fan-fucking-tastic... who ever's responsible did one hell of a job!

I haven't opened any presents yet. I haven't eaten either. I am a bundle of anticipation.

My sister gave me a very cheesy pot holder; cousin gave me a very nice Columbia soft shell. Ooh!, and I got the nose hair trimmer that I asked for too! No more tusks coming out of my face. Heh.

I gifted Black n Red notebooks, a floor standing Vornado fan, and stocking stuffed some spiffy bar back towels with embroidered martinis, shakers, and olives to my other cousins.

Nice balmy 15 degrees F and 20-35mph winds in Wichita, KS. Shoveled drive and it piled up like it had not been touched in an hour.
Another very merry Chrismas with family. !

My movie buddy for Boxing Day (today) has a hangover so we've rescheduled Sherlock Holmes for Tuesday. Christmas went well - there was no whinging about us not buying anyone gifts (given that we fed and drunk (??) them lavishly. Even the horrible little children were exceptionally well behaved and contrived to be slightly cute.

So, I'm sitting here in the late morning with a drink and cookies in the oven, watching the lovely rain soak into the parched earth and feeling happy.

If anyone would like choc-chip scented hugs, please form an orderly queue and brace yourself for whuffling.

Merry Christmas, Bunnies!!!

Merry Christmas from Australia (low-quality SNL rip).

California is lovely, as are my in-laws. Tomorrow I see my family, which sounds to be more hectic. My parents skipped Christmas festivities of presents and such, for my wife and I to get into town, and my sister is with her boyfriend's family today, too. I missed my family traditions like the smell of a cut tree and classical Christmas-themed songs on the radio, but I liked being part of something new to me. I hope all your holiday festivities are joyous and wonderful, or at least there's a moment of goodness in the overwhelming mess of holiday time.

Please forgive me for asking such a naive question, but do folks in India do anything, um, Christmas-like around Christmas? I'm assuming not, but then traditions can be contagious. A friend at work told me about Holi and it sounded like the coolest thing ever. I hope I get the privilege to participate one day.

As for the best and worst present? Good lord, I have no idea . . . Here's a thought . . . I think both are wrapped up in certain computer games my parents got me that didn't work. It was that late-childhood early-adolescent period, and I remember the thrill of tearing open the game, running to the computer, shoving the 5 1/4 disc in the drive, watching the thing boot up, then . . . something being clearly wrong. That was it, my Christmas was over, ruined, no one could console me. My poor parents. Let me just say that Dawn Davenport's "no cha-cha heels" tantrum from Female Trouble strikes a very uncomfortable, familiar chord.
