What Do You Use To E-Mail ? i dont use email a lot, but the upgrade to Windows 7 doesnt have Outlook Express and i am wondering what a good replacement app would be . the new Windows Live Mail is alright and i dont particularily like Mozilla Thunderbird . any suggestions ?
At work, Outlook 2007, elsewise I just use gmail's web interface. I've come to like it so much that I added my ISP-based pop3 email to it as well. I suppose that's not much of an answer, but...you know, it's a data point! One client-less emailer here.

If you don't like Thunderbird, then there won't be a better free alternative out there for Windows that I know of. There's Eudora, but you've gotta pay if you want the full-featured version. Personally, I don't think you're going to get better than Thunderbird for free email clients, particularly given that there are extensions available for calendar and whatnot.

I've been using a Firefox extension called SimpleMail. It opens a simple mail client in a browser tab. It's how I get my gmail without having to log into Google. It also integrates with FF so you can mail pages and links and such.

It's not the most fully featured free client out there but then again it's meant to be simple. It probably does everything Express does, If I remember it correctly.

I use Gmail as well, set my domain up with it. No more Thunderbird or Outlook Express for me ever again.

OE and gmail.

mutt on the server. I never have to download mail to my PC (unless I want to save an attachment.) Else, gmail. Most email should be text.

I use Oulook at the office for my work account, otherwise it's all iphone/web access (mainly Gmail, I have that set up to pull incoming email from my other accounts).

Outlook via Exchange at work, Gmail everywhere else. I actually like Outlook, but don't need all the fancy features outside work and do need the easy portability that Gmail gives me. I also access both on my iPhone.

Thunderbird and gmail. There's a new version of thunderbird out if there's just some particular thing you don't like about it.

Even though it's probably safer our there in the cloud, I like having my email stored locally. I'm just old-fashioned that way.

I'm a Pine holdout. Love those keyboard shortcuts.

Pine for me too! At work people are always asking either "Why do you use that old thing?" or "How come your email always works?"

At work, we have switched from Eudora to Zimbra, which is pretty much universally hated.

Gmail and Yahoo mail, although mostly Gmail for personal stuff. I have two or three Yahoo mail accounts that I barely ever look at anymore. . .

Gmail. I hadn't used a non-web-based email for years until I got my new job and we have to use outlook for work stuff. It took me ages to get my mind around it. At least it's still web-based for me in effect, because I log in remotely via citrix.
