Early Xmas presents... [More:]So far, my husband, who is a master of presents, has given me a new fire safe (the latch on the old one was lame and broke, rendering it useless) and 4 pairs of STRIPED RUGBY SOCKS.

Now, I tend to wear Birks with socks, because I'm a hippy/nerd like that, and I love having happy feet since I'm on my feet a lot at work and don't really care what people think.

Fun knee socks with arch, ankle, and under the knee reinforcements. And fun stripy colors under my jeans with solid colors on the feet. Wooo!

Have you gotten any early Xmas joy?
I love striped socks!

With a birthday present store credit, I just got The Princess Bride, Priceless (which despite the absolutely horrible tag lines and previews is one of the best movies I've seen this year), and Let The Right One In. I also have on order something for the boy but I won't say what it is in case he sees this thread. You're gonna like it, buns.

This weekend I'm meeting up with my sister to exchange gifts. There's really nothing that I want - I'm not really into 'stuff' - and she has a habit of buying me ten bits of crap from the pound shop, which I accept with a 'thank you' and then donate to charity after Christmas. (Scented drawer liners? A pencil case with Scooby Do on it? Pot pourri made of wood shavings?)

This year she's having from me a CD of her choice (JLS), a pocket diary with a pink silk embroidered cover, a long-haired dachshund calendar, and a chocolate reindeer (from Aldi - as delicious as Lindt, but only 89p AND they do dark as well as milk chocolate. The bargain of the year, really delicious chocolate too. I know they have Aldi in the States, so check out the chocolate reindeer.)

Aldi chocolate reindeer (150g - 5.29oz) $1.99

Lindt chocolate reindeer (100g - 3.5oz) $4.50

I'm also making her some brownies and will, of course, have to make a test batch today, just, you know, to make sure they taste ok.

Oooh, also in the US Aldi they have their Le Creuset ripoff cookware on sale next week. I have some of this. It's really, really good.

For an early Chanukah present, I got the Droid from my mom, and it is sooo awesome.
I also got a gift certificate to Bloomies from my uncle and a spice grinder (which I asked for) from my aunt.

I already gave my sister her present, because as soon as it came to me I couldn't wait. It's a fancy goose down pillow. She's been having neck problems and I wanted her to try it asap. She loves it, and told me to buy some for myself (maybe next year).

I gave my mom her present, a certificate for a haircut at a fancy salon in her town with her favorite hairdresser who she never goes to (she's been twice) since he's so expensive.

Tonight is the first night of Chanukah and I feel like a dip because I am seeing the bf and I totally forgot his present (not that it is wrapped anyway).

My mom and stepdad were in town for Thanksgiving, and got me a fluffy blanket for one of the beds in my spare bedroom and also a pair of beautiful mugs from a local potter. Quite awesome. I've stapled the blanket over the door that separates the room I'm living in from the rest of the house. Not its intended purpose, but it's been a heat-saver!

I, uh, broke the family rule* and bought myself a whole bundle of clothing. As a Christmas present to myself.

*The family rule: you DO NOT buy yourself big treats in the weeks leading up to a gift-giving holiday. In our case, that's Christmas, anniversaries, birthdays. But realistically: no one was going to buy me these items, I badly need them and have been fruitlessly shopping for months, and they were on clearance and destined to go fast, so I snatched them up. Now I can wear them to Christmas parties!
