Yay Sloss Furnace! I love that place, and I've got photos from there too, but they're prints, actual paper, you know, not yet digitized. Thanks for posting these, BP! When I was a little boy, and Sloss was still operating, sometimes my dad would drive by there at night, and seeing the troughs of red glowing molten steel was an amazing site. Magical.

You got me thinking about Birmingham now, BP, so here's an old wall from the Magic City...

OK, just one more, and I'll get outta here, I promise! This one has a nice little backstory, though: I was in Niigata (west coast of Japan) photographing some pieces of wood and junk leaning against a wall. An old lady saw me, and said she'd like to show me something. She then removed a couple of pieces of wood, and revealed for me this very old, decaying picture, painted onto a wooden plank. She told me it was advertising for some old medicine of some sort or other.

It's weird that you all say that. I took the picture a couple months ago, and maybe because I took it and know what it looked like for realz, I just don't see what you see in it.

Just for grins, a couple other pics of the bike. Click to embiggen them.
