Faces to the names, people It's been awhile since we had one of these threads, so put a pic in here of you, as you are, RIGHT NOW.
(Psst, flapjax- go to "Share" on the photo, copy the "Direct Link" from the Get Link Code, and copy it into the box that pops up here when you press "Image")
Melismata: There is a little button at the top of the image that says all sizes. When you click that it takes you to a page where you can get the link. :) (Hugh Janus showed me that earlier today!)
Melismata, the way I do it is to click on "all sizes" above the photo, choose the size I want to use, then right-click on the photo and "copy image location" (using FF - probably pretty much the same in other browsers). This doesn't work with restricted images.
Resemblance is limited to the hairdo. ≡ Click to see image ≡
Snapshot of me right now. 6:19 am after feeling nauseous the whole night. Looking even more pale and thin than usual. The shawl is because the central heating died as well.
I thought I started wearing a Cardinal Richelieu moustache after not shaving for a few weeks because of the flue and a general wtf feeling about my life in general. But it turns out I was only subconsciously synchronising with mecha; most of you guys have facial hair as well! ≡ Click to see image ≡
Oh GAWD BP! You are a brilliant photographer but those photos - every time I see them I am all, JAYSUS, the woman is old and I flash to this black and white photo from Ireland in the 1850s that I swear I saw one time, a woman on a cart with a couple of kids and this I Am Just Quietly Dying Here Yet I Will Survive look on her face, like it's the famine and they're all off to Galway to catch the next water bus to the golden paved streets of America, (she could be my great grandmother) and the older I get, the closer I get to that picture. So, yes, add donkey, cart, children, shawl and black 47 - there are only 12 Irish faces.
Well, I took one... but first I had to take a shower, then I had to dry my hair, then I had to find some batteries that work, then I took photos, but it was still too dark and it wouldn't stop flashing, and the jojoba oil on my face from after the shower was blinding me, but I finally got by a window and it got lighter and it still flashed, but I didn't look quite so much like an oil slick... and now... the usb cable is missing for my camera. If I find one that works, I'll post the least worst pic.
Well, I took one too, taz, but I am unwashed, hair not brushed, un-caffeinated, not a scrap of makeup on, and still in my old night-shirt (which is about 10 years old and has tumbling kittens on it). I did brush my teefs. The best thing about this picture is that for a 50-year-old woman I think my skin looks pretty good.
* I was recently chastised by my 70-year old father for not having a webcam. Some of the conversation went like this: (You have to imagine his Chinese accent.)
Dad: How can you not have a webcam? Don't you have a Mac?
Me: Yeah, but it's an old one.
Dad: You can buy a webcam anywhere. Anyone can get a webcam. Everywhere there are webcams.
Me: I know.
Dad: Even your Daddy has a webcam.
Me: I know.
Dad: How can we sky-pee (skype) if you don't have a webcam?
Me: I can see you.
Dad: There is no point, I can just call you then.
Me: Then just call me.
Dad: Aren't you embarrassed you don't know how to use a webcam? Even your Daddy knows how to use a webcam.
Here's me about a month ago at a barn dinner we helped to throw, sampling some delicious NH hard cider. I'm on the right in the sweater, my friend Karen on the left. Yeah, I'm shocked at how plump I am - let's just say it's been a distracting year. Y'all will keep me honest with these threads and hopefully I will not be a contender for next year's new Thanksgiving parade balloon characters.
This isn't particularly recent (about eight or nine months old) but I look exactly the same and am wearing the same hat and sweater right now. ≡ Click to see image ≡
A rare picture of me without sunglasses. I seem to only take pictures of myself while wearing sunglasses. Hm. I also don't take very many pictures of myself, so this is the only recent one, and I think my expression might scare small children. Even so:
