Another radio cast. Some random radio. On just about now.[More:] If you have trouble connecting try to put this in your listening software of choice http://lax1.loudcity.fast-serv.com:80/5409.96.live.mp3
YEAH! \m/

This is my first time listening at home. When I clicked on the WinAmp button, I got a 404. So I clicked on the Windows Media button, and was given a choice to open the file in WinAmp, which I did. And now you're booming loud and clear.

It also shows the song/artist. I'll be curious to see if it updates when the next song starts.

(I would have thought this was Faithless by the sound of it, BTW.)

Oh, I got through on the regular page this time! Interesting. By which I mean, Confusing.

Thanks for the direct link, though... If I have trouble again, I'll try that.
posted by taz 21 November | 00:04
Update: it does update song/artist.

So playing a .asx file in WinAmp works, for sure.

This is serious guilty pleasure music you're playing, here.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:05
It'll get odder BP.
posted by arse_hat 21 November | 00:07
It's not odd to me, because I used to hang around in those kind of establishments in my younger days.

Cosmic Gate - The Truth.mp3
DJ Sammy - Boys Of Summer.mp3
The Perpetuous Dreamer - Sound Of Goodbye.mp3
Tiefschwarz - Mars.mp3

I'm playing this so loud the speakers keep making my monitor "ripple" in the corners. Heh.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:17
This should get it rippling.
posted by arse_hat 21 November | 00:20
Oh fuck yeah... Death In Vegas! Awesome.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:21
I keep wishing Tarantino would use one of their songs in a movie. It just seems like it would work.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:22
So is there a way to see how many listeners are tuned in?
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:26
This is so fun.
posted by taz 21 November | 00:30
At this point only for me BP. I have some Loadcity scripts like the one we used to use here but none of them work any more. The Loudcity forums don't help. I'm hoping someone here might know something and I may post an askme.

Awesome.

Flick - 100 Days.mp3
Bran Van 3000 - Drinking in L.A..mp3
The Dresden Dolls - Coin-Operated Boy.mp3
posted by arse_hat 21 November | 00:36
That'd be cool, arse_hat. It would have the side benefit of letting people know MetaRadio is back. :)

This Dresden Dolls song reminds me of the Magnetic Fields, if the Magnetic Fields ever unclenched a bit.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:36
Whee! I got it working. Very cool... also - great song!
posted by jonathanstrange 21 November | 00:37
See BP I told you it would get weird.
posted by arse_hat 21 November | 00:38
WhooOOOooo! 5 people!
posted by arse_hat 21 November | 00:43
What, because jonathanstrange showed up? I think she's very nice.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:44
Oh, you mean, the music. I grant you: Death in Vegas to The Velvet Underground in less than five songs is a bit weird. But excellent.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:45
jonathanstrange is very nice. yes.

I love this song.
posted by taz 21 November | 00:46
I see nothing wrong with this.

My sister once made a mix cd that went from Abba to Rolling Stones to Elton John to Muse to Natasha Beddingfield. UNIRONICALLY.

I couldn't listen to the cd without crying with laughter.

and also a little because of all the bad songs on there too.

Kings of Leon are the best 15 year overnight sensation in a while.

Your sister iz auwsum!
posted by arse_hat 21 November | 00:51
My surname is Leon, and I had a flatmate whose surname was King.

BUT SHE WASN'T THE KING OF ME. Oh no she wasn't.
posted by jonathanstrange 21 November | 00:52
This is also the best Kings of Leon song I've ever heard.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 00:52
I was really drunk. I sat at the party and kept looking at the lighted letters in the window. I asked the host why she had "LEON" in bright letters in her front window. Hint, it was a Christmas party.

I love Matisyahu's music. A work friend introduced me to his music a couple of years ago. (I don't think too much about his beliefs, for fear of what I would find, kind of like Brother Danielson.)
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 01:03
I wish BitterOldPunk was hearing this song. Not sure if he'd like it or hate it.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 01:04
I'm not sure if *I* like it or hate it, for that matter.

Matisyahu - Indestructible.mp3
Bama - Sweet Home Alabama
Elwood - Sundown
Everclear - Santa Monica
posted by arse_hat 21 November | 01:12
Everclear! I'm a fan of Art Alexakis, I must admit. Before he started Everclear, he put together this awesome alt-country compilation album in the early 1990s, and I LOVED that album. It was as spotty as you might expect, but it had some great songs on it. Mixtape staples, among me and my friends.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 01:16
Huh, I never knew that. I'll have to look for that- sounds like something I'd love.
posted by Miko 21 November | 01:18
It was called "Lazy, Loud, and Liquor'd Up." I need to go root around and see if my CD still exists.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 01:20
Also, arse_hat, dude, you're killing me. This is so awesome. :D Shades of A Mighty Wind.

I have a friend whose 9-year-old song was OBSESSED with this song when I put it on a mix CD for him.

The son is now 19 and listens to shitty music, so screw him. (But I bet he'll come around.)
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 01:34
Coming to an end soon
posted by arse_hat 21 November | 01:36
9-year-old song = 9-year-old son

Actually, I bet he's older than 19 now. Holy shit. *grabs cane*
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 01:36
Dude, I owned this song on a 12-inch single. How perfectly 80s a statement is that.

OK, see, the Proclaimers are to Scotland what the Dukes of Hazzard are to Georgia. Not a good representation.
posted by BoringPostcards 21 November | 01:53
Les Rita Mitsouko, on the other hand, are exactly what French people are like. Tall, skinny, rubbery, and harmonious.
