Doomed Dome: The Future That Never Was A small town in late-1970s Vermont considered enclosing itself under a glass dome, as an energy-saving measure.
I'm sure I speak for all Vermonters when I say:

I just read a Stephen Millhauser short story about houses, and then later towns and then finally the entire US being placed under giant domes. While fanciful, it was a delightful read.
