What's for lunch?
1. Leftover grocery store sushi. It's my first experience with sushi. I liked it, but I'm sure it's about as far from the authentic experience as possible. The rest of the family only took tiny nibbles and said "no thanks".

2. Leftover mashed potatoes. I've been making mashed potatoes a lot lately for dinner. Last night the family rebelled and so I have a lot left to finish up. Their loss, I guess.

3. Apple from our tree

4. More coffee. More. With sugar.

I suppose I'll admit that I had ramen. I needed something quick and easy. I plan to spend the next week or so cooking up a storm, however, and stocking my freezer.

Nearly dinner time here. I'm having a beef stew. I couldn't find decent stewing beef but a lot of supermarkets in the UK think that a good roasting joint contains no fat. It doesn't. The only cut of beef worth roasting is rib with lots of marbled fat. Anyhoo, I found a piece of roasting silverside that had no fat whatsoever on it, so it would have been dry as shit roasted, but I cut it up and made a stew, with onions, carrots, onions, garlic, beef stock and a little crushed dried chili.

I seared the beef in hot oil in my cast-iron casserole dish, threw everything else in and cooked in a low oven for 4 hours. It's beautifully tender and delicious.

I have some Ben & Jerry's for later. It was on special offer, but they didn't have my favourite (Chunky Monkey) so I got 'Half Baked' instead.

I love leftover potato, DF.

Don't feel bad. Ramen is by far the best 19 cent lunch there is. I have it often...

Polenta with vodka sauce. Homemade pita chips (well, I didn't make the pitas, I just cut them and baked them).

Probably walking over to the coffee shop for a pesto-grilled cheese sammich.

Lunch was hours ago (leftover pizza with chorizo, red bell pepper and onion, yum), but dinner will be leftover cottage pie, possibly leftover sausage and lentil stew.

Lunch? Oh.

I may have overslept.

So, "lunch" will be a cappuccino, a glass of ice water, an apple, and a piece of toast. (The toast is homemade challah --- so delicious!)

blood of my enemies, and a pint of Guinness.

Steamed potatoes, sugar-snap peas, carrot, and a Tesco Finest Rump Steak Burger; followed by two Weight Watchers chocolate eclairs.

Note that Tesco Finest Rump Steak Burgers are actually pretty horrible despite being expensive: tasteless, crumby texture, go instantly from bloody to dry. Not enough fat maybe.

I just rolled out of bed, but I'm having a little wee coffee cake that I would've thought should have gone bad months ago but it hasn't. Scary preservatives.

I had some spanakopita left over from last night just now.

Well, it's past lunch time here. We're in the midst of rearranging the living room. After that we'll shower and grab dunch/lunner out somewhere.

I had a California Burrito* which should keep me sated for a few days.

*carne asada, salsa fresca, sour cream, cheese, guac, and *french fries* wrapped in a tortilla.
