MeFi question. . . I want to post to this thread[More:] a pic out of my flickr illustrating the point: That professional photographers are sent out to take pictures of lame stuff.

I want to use this page, with a pic of me trimming artificial grass with a small pair of scissors, that got on the front page of my local rag. I could also link the story, but it's the same issue.

Is this a violation of the self-link policy?

It should be completely fine to self-link in a comment, especially if you're explicit about it.

self-linking in comments is totally okay especially if you are clear you're linking to your own stuff. The only reason it's ever not okay is people being spammy weirdoes pretending they just stumbled across some link when in reality they're SEO shills.
