Here is Norther's Final Countdown cover (it's not as good as I might have hoped, but they really nailed that synth sound). Also Vainglory Opera, which isn't a Final Countdown cover but might as well be.

Here's an excellent fast-paced polka rendition with obligatory pointless anime vid.

The first time I heard the song, when Joey Tempest got to the "We're leaving for Venus" line, I thought, "How the hell is he going to rhyme that without resort to the only word I can think of?" I gave him credit for pulling it off.

Comment from a lyrics site:

It is clearly an inspiration to all aspiring astronauts. I hope that one day I may go to Venus as well! This song will stand the test of time as the greatest song about astronauts ever made! What could be better than astronauts going to Venus and because of the highly corosive atmosphere they will be poisoned and never come back! They will clearly all "miss her so" meaning Earth because they are careening to the ultimate death! The atmosphere on Venus is 96.5% carbon dioxide which means their heads will likely explode and they do it all for the greater good of science!

I mean, come on! The gravatational pull alone would have them splattered on the ground as soon as they stepped foot out of their ship! ...on second thought this song is inaccurate and completely sucks.

It's like the hair metal version of "Come Sail Away."
