(and I wanted to go pig hunting, too. My uncle had pig dogs, but I was never deemed old enough, and then I lost interest). Wild pigs are scary motherfuckers. Don't know why I would ever have wanted to do that.
The problem with throwing a dead rabbit that you've just killed is that if it's too fresh, rigor mortis hasn't set in and they're just all limp and saggy and you have to hold them in the midsection to get a good grip and balance.
When they're a little stiffer, you can hold them by the hind end and get a more aerodynamic throw.
But even so, their fur creates a huge amount of wind drag and their ears and limbs don't help either.
Turtles would be better animals to throw because of their inherent stiffness, roundness, and natural arc shape.
What I am trying to say is "If someone threw your grandmother after she died you wouldn't like it." Because she probably wouldn't get very far.
I think the important word in the article was "desecration". Sure teach the kids about the wrongness of introducing species and explain the damage they cause. Hunt them and kill them as humanely as possible.
And then teach about the preciousness of life by using those rabbits in some way - the skins, the bones, the meat.
Throwing dead bunny bodies is a display of waste and a lack of respect for life.
