Miraculous Outcome in Australia [More:]

Apparently the mom and the train engineer also survived. If I'd been either one of them, I think I'd be dead of a heart attack.
Jeez, that made me go cold.

AAAH! Even knowing that he was going to be ok in the end, I couldn't help gasping as the train came in.

The headline was enough to keep me from starting the video.

This. Yikes, I'm all goosebumps and sickbelly, even knowing it had a happy ending.

Well, the mom almost did jump onto the tracks -- she would have been grievously injured for sure.

In Chicago the UP (fmr. Chicago & Northwestern) Metra trains run "backwards", i.e. on the left, where there are double tracks. I knew this but since there are other railroads on which Metra runs commuter service and I had at times used them I got myself confused about which railroad I was on and which way to be facing. I heard the rumble of a train going express but I thought it was obscured by a stairway structure and so I leaned out to check for it.

It was behind me, and it was only the air pressure around the engine that blew me back enough so I wasn't actually hit. Inches, I swear. Dumbass.
