Home sick. Had to give my classes to my boss and my housemate ten minutes in advance to cover. Stupid flu. What are your tips for getting well?
Rest.

Sleep and OJ. (Yeah, I know that there's all sorts of wankiness about whether or not OJ does any damn good, but when I'm sick, it tastes like the best stuff ever.)

Lots and lots of sleep.

I am also home sick, and not pleased about it! I'm hoping that sitting on the couch and watching lots of crappy daytime TV will cure me by tomorrow.

Fizzy water mixed with orange juice and a squeeze of lemon.

A scalding hot shower, if you're strong enough to stand. A bath if you're not. Either way, if you have any rosemary oil in the house, rub a bit (diluted with a base oil) on your chest before you hit the water.

Hot and sour soup. If that's not available, clear broth with chiles or hot sauce. It clears my sinuses and the kick from the chiles gives me a false sense of energy.

Giving yourself time to rest.

Knowing that there's a whole mess of people inside your computer who would bring you soup if they could.

Netflix, mac and cheese, Gatorade, a warm bed and something to read in that bed. I strongly suggest Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities. Or Norton Juster's The Phantom Tollbooth.

Both of these books are perfect panaceas for anything that ever bothers you, regardless of source.

There are two ways to see this: one is that nothing you do will do any good, and the other is that *everything* you do will help. I like the latter approach. In other words, stop normal life, and do what you feel like doing, which may well be not much. Fluids and rest.

Sleep. A lot of (room temp) water. Avoid excess caffeine, alcohol, sugar, fats. Keep warm. Whuffles.
