This week's vocabulary lesson: LGBT QI, cisgender, intersex. If you are not reading these terms on a daily basis yet, you soon will.
Re: queer - my guess is that it's for people who'd rather not have a "regular" (gay, lesbian, bi) label. Although queer is still a label, it's more flexible than the others; it can mean anything not hetero.
I, for one, usually identify as bi because it's easiest. In actuality, my sexuality isn't that simple, queer is probably closer to the truth even though it's a more free-flowing, all encompassing label.
I'm fumbling for words to get my idea across, so I'm probably not very clear. *sigh*
