Friday Lyrics Challenge! I'm listing 13 this time, because one's a ringer that I'll be pretty shocked if anyone gets. [More:]

1. I'll steal your pop-tarts like I stole your socks

2. So I'll take two of what you're having and I'll take all of what you got

3. I leapt across three or four beds into your arms

4. She's so beautiful now, she doesn't wear her shoes

5. I was born, lucky me, in a land that I love

6. I wanna tell her that I love her but the point is probably moot

7. All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me

8. Outer space is goddamn cold without you

9. No, I've never met anyone quite like you before

10. I've been told that you've been bold

11. You disturb my natural emotions

12. Listen to the girl as she takes on half the world

13. I thought there was a virtue in always being cool
1. Shut shut shut shut UP!!!!

5. Victoria - The Kinks
10. Satellite of Love - Lou Reed
11. Ever Fallen in Love... - Buzzcocks
posted by misteraitch 11 September | 14:54
All correct so far (though Wolfdog left his open enough that somebody else should name 'em)

4. The Cars -- Let's Go

Right, danf!

#3 is Bleeding Heart Show - The New Pornographers
#13 is Flight Test - The Flaming Lips
posted by richat 11 September | 15:14
Right, richat!

That leaves 2, 7, 8, 9, and 12. Plus, someone should actually name 1 and 6, unless Wolfdog wants to come back and do it.

(I saw something not that long ago that pointed out that Flight Test and Cat Stevens' "Father & Son" were so similar, that the royalties for the song are now divided equally!)

9. New Order - I don't know the title but it was on the Trainspotting soundtrack

That's the right artist, rmless2!

1. Anthrax - I'm the Man

That's it, CPH.

I have to leave the computer in about 35 mins... I'll post the answers if nobody has guessed the rest by then.

#12 is from Lost in Translation, but I have no idea who did it or why.
posted by eekacat 11 September | 16:28
I had to look that one up, eeks. Yep, it was in that movie.
posted by BoringPostcards 11 September | 16:31
Let's see if we can beat the deadline...

#7 is A Little Less Conversation by the King, and 12 is Just Like Honey from Jesus & Mary Chain (eek's mention of the movie triggered the soundtrack)
posted by kyleg 11 September | 16:55
Yup and yup!
posted by BoringPostcards 11 September | 16:55
That leaves only 2 and 8.
posted by BoringPostcards 11 September | 16:59
I know what 2 is but only because you sent it to me.
posted by arse_hat 11 September | 17:04
Damn, that was a good round!

The last two are: #2 = "Goddamn Lonely Love," by the Drive-By Truckers and #8 = "Alpha Centauri," by Peter Ivers (that one was the ringer).

Fun! Thanks, y'all. Happy Friday...

6. Rick Springfield - "Jessie's Girl"

One of the greatest singles of the 80s, imho. And it was the second song on the album. Not the first. Not the last. Not even the first song on the second side.

I've never understood that.

Yeah, I only know Jessie's Girl.
posted by Eideteker 11 September | 17:05
Oh yeah, 12 is The Jesus and Mary Chain, "Just Like Honey" - off the Psychocandy album.
posted by Joe Beese 11 September | 17:06
Rarely does a week go by that we don't listen to Rick Springfield's "Working Class Dog" album around here.

Man, I only knew Jessie's Girl and the Bleeding Heart Show.
Although I feel like with BP, it may be safe to assume a DBT song in there?
posted by gaspode 11 September | 17:43
Isn't I'm The Man a Joe Jackson song that Anthrax covered? Don't make go google things people!
posted by richat 11 September | 19:28
Ok, I see now that I was wrong, but the Joe Jackson song that Anthrax did was "Got the Time" which was NOT on the Joe Jackson record called I'm the Man, it was on Look Sharp! So...yeah I guess I'm ok with my being confused on that one.

Those who take this to heart will be rewarded in the future.
