Are there any vegetables that one can plant outdoors this time of year in New Jersey?
lettuces, radishes, spinach

Chard, kale, carrots, garlic...basically it's like you have another cool season, so anything you grew in spring (with the exception maybe of early peas) that doesn't need a long growing time can be planted again. I've been doing a new sowing of lettuces and chard this time of year.

What about planting indoors? Something I can grow in a pot? Same general area.

Kale, collard greens, mustard greens.

Still time for bush beans, carrots, turnips, radishes, cauliflower, cabbage and lettuce (from starter plants, no time for seeds for the headed-veggies)

Best bet: hit your local nursery. The folks there can hook you up with whatever will grow right now.
