Is this the worst shirt ever? I think it might be.
Dude - if you're cappin' on Porter Wagoner and a possible Nudie suit, I pity thee.

That right there is the height of classic country fashion, and duds like that go for lots of money these days.

Plus, that was Jolene! Great song - vintage Dolly.

Definitely one of the finer songs ever written, which is why I was there in the first place (after hearing a cover version on Prairie Home Companion over the weekend and remembering how good the original was). However, neither "the height of classic country fashion" nor "duds like that go for lots of money these days" contradicts my assertion that the shirt is terrible.

"This shirt, widely recognized as the worst one ever, also represents the height of classic country fashion, and duds like this go for lots of money these days" - see, that's a perfectly coherent sentence.

So, I clicked the link, paid no attention to the shirt reference, listened to several other versions of Jolene, including a cover by the White Stripes, and kept wondering how anybody could diss Miss Dolly Parton singing Jolene. I came back to the 'Chat to take issue, and realized the diss was for the shirt, which reminded me of this site.

I heard Mindy Smith singing Jolene on PHC, too, and liked it, but this version by Dolly was my favorite.

I would wear that heinous shirt for a month if I could have Dolly's voice (c. 1974) for like two days.

that shirt transcends style. It is only "worst" if you are judging it out of context.

Repeated for emphasis...man is this true.

Still and all, I am not loving the colours on this outfit of Porter's.

Porter existed out of that continuum also. . .
