Sitting on my butt waiting for my brother to get ready so we can head to Little Rock for some college football. And listening to Asian Kung-Fu Generation.
Hungover and tired. We had friends over last night for dinner and cards and of course I drank too much. I have dishes and yoga to do but can't seem to get up to get started. This morning I took the little kid to baseball practice then we went to Wendy's. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and then I came home and heated up the yummy and delicious chicken pot pie that I made last night. So, I ate lunch twice and feel pretty bad about that.
Tonight I'm doing nothing but watching movies with my husband and making homemade pizza with fresh mozzarella. I have a friend that sells gourmet food and he gave us so much good cheese last night (blue, blue-brie, fresh buffalo mozzarella, and so much more. OMG, it is the jackpot). Tomorrow I might kayak at the beach and do something barbecuey for Labor Day.
Looking out onto Plac Zamkowy in Warsaw from one of the third-floor windows of the beige building with big buttresses to the right of the cafe with red umbrellas in this photo, watching the light change as the sun sets.
I'm having a mellow morning, watching some DVDs and knitting a sweater for my sister.
After lunch, I am going to go back to studying math - I finally received my admissions letter to go back and get a BS to match my BA from years ago, and I need to get to Calculus 1 as soon as is possible. Weekend is going to be gloriously rainy, so some study time by the fireplace with candles and a fire going sounds wonderful to me!
Had a board meeting at 9am this morning. Tried to be all awesome and talk about the wiki I'm setting up for the community (since we seem to constantly have clusterfucks regarding conversations and remembering who said what when) and was met with blank faces.
Am currently baking and cooking for the week. I've got foccacia and pizza dough rising and butter getting to room temperature to make graham crackers. I need to prep my green beans and cook/freeze my latest chicken purchase.
Need to whip out the GooGone and get the goddamn labels off my hilarious new cookie cutters that I purchased yesterday.
Having coffee at the blue rock. Contemplating my loser weekend with little going on. Soon off to the library to do some work. Then quick appearance at at 2 yr olds bday party.
Nap, more work, beer, beer, beer and possibly movie before I sleep.
Tomorrow, I will go into work because...I got nothing better to do.
Might do the same on Monday too.
Gonna go do some appliance shopping soon with a friend of mine. I'm thinking of getting a gas stove, which I've always sort of wanted, but never had. The idea of buying a whack of appliances freaks me out!
I was planning on hiking or bicycling this weekend but the weather gods have frowned upon laborers this weekend in the PNW. Though annoyingly I can see a bit of blue sky out my window right now - but it won't last, there is a stiff wind whipping the clouds in. So, so far today I'm lying around reading the internet and listening to David Tudor. But I think I'm going to go do a little music making myself in a bit. As for the rest of the weekend, well I'm just playing it by ear. Might go to the Frye tomorrow. I really want to get to P-Town to catch the Escher show at the PAM before it closes, but I'm rather broke this month. Might just do a one day jaunt there tomorrow anyway - that's why they created credit cards right?
Cooking up a storm. We have tons of veggies from the allotment that need attention. On the stove is a simmering vat of chutney (green tomatoes, apples, onions, raisins, courgette, spices), chard in garlic, kale with homemade chorizo. Coming soon: glazed carrots (so good), broccoli with anchovies, and roasted onions. Already eaten: fresh borlotti beans. (Holy GOD they were delicious.) Dinner will include goat cheese quesadillas made with hand-made tortillas.
At church, helping Pastors sell their stuff before they move to Romania. This is particularly pressing because I'm sure the church will inherit what they don't sell, and we already have enough crap.
It's only just gone 8.30pm but I'm thinking about going to bed. I put a waterproof cover on the mattress, and over that a mattress cover then a sheet. The cats will be shut out of the bedroom tonight. Bailey will cry.
Tomorrow - I'll take the peed-on duvet to the laundrette because it won't fit in my washing machine. Last time I left it for a service wash, which cost £15 (the new duvet I bought today, whilst not the same quality was £4.99). So tomorrow I'll put my £3.50 in the washing machine, sit and watch it go round and round, use a pound's worth of 20p pieces in the dryer and then finish it off on the line at home if it's still not dry.
My prize, a new Wacom Bamboo just arrived. I plugged it in, and windows vista installed it without any issues. Igor is looking forward to playing with it. He says that since he had to do all the posing for the pictures, it's only fair that half the prize be his. My kid...he's a hard negotiator.
I made broccoli cheese soup, which was my favorite thing ever when I was 8. And is my favorite thing now too! It rained while I ate it. Pretty perfect.
I think I'm going to take a long hot bath this afternoon. I used to be the master of relaxing and taking baths and I seem to have lost that, and that saddens me greatly. Going to try and make a habit of baths again.
Slept very late. Got up and went to the big farmer's market at the Ferry Building. Going to Berkeley for a sushi party tonight. Yum, homemade sushi! Drinking yummy cappuccino from my new Bialetti stovetop cappuccino maker.
Had cereal for breakfast (Special K w/red berries), took a nap, showered, dropped off insulin script to be filled, dropped off books and picked up requests (three Dominick Dunne books and one about Elizabeth I and Mary of Scotland) at the library, lunch at Ricky's, picked up insulin script and now at home. The mister just took Kaylee for a ride to the pet store. Dunno what's up for this evening.
The clinic I work at on weekends was slammed today. We had six walk-ins in addition to the scheduled appointments, three euthanasias, and a pretty full boarding house.
One of the dogs (a 40ish pound mixed breed) got spooked when I was putting water in her crate and tried to bolt. I reached out to grab her and she doubled back and bit the fuck out of my right hand. It's fine, she's had all of her shots and whatnot, but I have four nice teeth imprints on the back of my hand. So it goes.
Anyhow, I'm pretty wiped out. Working again tomorrow morning and Monday morning. Probably grilling some fajitas tomorrow afternoon. For now, I'm gonna eat dinner, take my dog for a walk, and then watch an episode of The Wire (I'm on season 3) before turning in.
