24 August 2009

I split my pants, I am wet and itchy [More:]But otherwise, camp is going well!
It's been such a wet summer here that the mosquitos are out in great force and don't seem to care about silly things like 3 layers of blankets or bug spray.

It's been raining every night (the first night of camp we were under tornado watch!) but the campers are in good spirits and we are making do with rainy-day activities.

Last night I took the junior staff for a night out to see Post Grad. OMG never see this movie

The weather reports are promising sunny days after today, and tonight is Counselor Hunt, so there is a lot to look forward to!

The first group of campers goes off today to the organic farm I coordinated visits with. I hope it goes well and that the kids are interested and well-behaved.
That sounds pretty flat out fantastic. I miss going to camp in the summers, both as one of the smaller fry and as a counselor. Counselor hunts. Man. We had those, but I totally forgot about it until you mentioned it. Some of our counselors tried very hard not to be found, to the extent of using camouflage, face paint, etc, and holing up in unimaginable places. I can't remember hiding myself, though.

(Those counselors were well known, and they had a correspondingly high point value placed on their heads. If somebody found one of them you would hear a massiv victory shout go up. Good fun, good fun.)

I was a camper and then a camp counselor many times in my life.

I wish I had sex with that English Camp Bunac counselor back when I was 19. One of the things I reget in my life.

That green glow coming from the PNW? That's me - I've never been to camp.

Post Grad wasn't good? Despite my hate of Alexis Bledel, I put it on my Netflix list, because the trailer looked so cute.

Wolfdog- we do the same thing with point values and counselors hidden under the deck of the main house, etc.

TPS- maybe if you go into it knowing not to expect much you'll enjoy it, but even my 14 yr olds turned around to me and were like "who wrote this?" and the 15 yr olds were calling out each plot point at least 10 min before it happened on screen (and then of course jumping up and yelling "I TOLD you that would happen!~!!!!"

A completely predictable teen movie? Yesssssss. My favorite.

Hate of Alexis Bledel? What?

I will admit that she plays the same character in every role she's ever done.

Also, from the trailers, Post Grad seems like it could be the alternate ending to Gilmore Girls.

I'm currently watching Princess Protection Program on Disney, though, so my taste is suspect. Also, I inexplicably like Selena Gomez.

I only saw about 3 eps of Gilmore Girls, but you're totally right, unsurprising. She plays the same good-hearted struggling smart girl. Le sigh.

I recommend that if anyone decides to reject my earlier advice and see the movie, they at least take along 20 screaming teenagers who will yell "They gonna be bangin soon!" because their participation is the one thing I did enjoy.

PS- the first trip to the farm went well! Some of the girls learned about fertilizer (and don't hate me still), some helped water plants, some weeded, and they brought home a few squash.

I just think she's obnoxious. She plays the same character in every film, and I don't like the character- the whiny, shy, smart but unassuming pretty girl. Barf.

And If I do do what I want then it's nobody's business if I do. || Rant #625 about online dating.
