Renovations update [More:]
The builders finished a couple of weeks ago, but will be back because there is a problem with the flooring. It's begun to warp and lift in places. The head guy believes it is a faulty batch and he is going to take it back to the warehouse for a refund. I have decided to go with a more expensive wood flooring, as I have not been entirely happy with this one.

When he laid the floor, the builder also hid underneath it all my phone and internet cables. They haven't worked properly since. So when the floor is up, I'm going to get him to 'unbury' the cabling and re-route it overground. It's all very well having no visible wires, but if there's a problem with it, it's a pain in the arse trying to get it sorted out.

Lucy has been extremely stressed by all the changes in her environment and started peeing indoors (the cats have a cat flap and free access to the outdoors, so they don't need a litter box). I didn't want to have a litter box, as they'll become lazy about going outside, so I've invested in some Feliway and hope that'll de-stress her.

Still waiting for my sofa, which is being custom made. I was given a 9-11 week timeframe, and the earliest date for that to be up is next week, so I'll give them a call and see where we are on it. I'm also on the lookout for a lounge-y chair to curl up and read in. I saw a great leather recliner in a charity shop yesterday with a 'sold' sticker on it. I was told it was just reserved, so I'll call in during the week to see if it's been paid for. If not, then I'll buy it.
Gah...flooring...you know I hate dealing with it. When I built this house, we ordered (and paid for) sand and stain wooden floors. While I had been on the job site every day; I had to leave for a week when my grandmother died. I came back, and they'd put in Pergo type laminate flooring. I about came unglued. Especially since they'd put the floor down, then put up the dry wall, so the only way to tear it out and put in the floors I paid for (which are 3 inches thicker) would be to tear down the walls and start all over...moving the build process well into the storm season. Aaaaaaagh!

Contractors and builders do vex me. Verily and truly. Good luck with your new floor, I hope it's everything you want it to be!

Awww, poor Lucy! I hope it all gets straightened out asap and it all calms down for the kitties (and you!).

If Lucy's started peeing indoors, maybe you might want to wait until that's sorted out before taking delivery of a beautiful, expensive piece of furniture. Maybe you might not want to rush that.
