Yo, Mormons: you're screwing up.
A Mormon classmate from Emerson has a blog....his reason for why gay marriage shouldn't be? "God has a penis" Ooooookaaay, how does he know this? Was it displayed to him?

That even sounds like a reason for gay marriage to be encouraged: let those with penises unite!

Rats! We missed the kiss-in.

That would have been in the Book of Revelations, I assume.

Looks like there was a kiss-in here too, picture in today's paper. I'm sure that there will be angry letters to the editor about showing dudes kissing in a family newspaper.

Since they're already making up their religion as they go along (for example, black people are no longer spawn of Satan), you'd think the modern, image-conscious Mormons could just dictate another golden tablet saying "Gay is Okay."

Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.

brujita, probably the "made Man in His own image" angle has some play.

Hey, they have to stop gay marriage. It might lead to, you know, polygamy or something.

LOL mrs chewie is ranting over here: "What the hell would god be doing with a penis? Who would he be screwing? and I don't think he needs it to piss anywhere b/c I'm pretty sure he's not doing that, either."

I think someone should write a book about fear logic.

but civil rights have nothing to do with religious principles," she said

I realize she's arguing against the church trying to restrict civil rights, but that sentiment seems to be the problem here -- most religious principles would seem, in most interpretations, to encourage *fostering* civil rights. Sigh.

Tyler Barrick, whose mother is mentioned in the article, is a friend-of-a-friend. He and his husband are currently in a battle to get their hometown papers to publish their wedding announcements (more info here). It's nice to see Tyler's family supporting them.
