I'm mostly happy to see foxes at a distance (and it does make me happy!), but I was lucky enough to raise a bitty orphaned vixen when I was a kid. She stayed around as she grew up and eventually, gradually, spent more and more time away until we just never saw her again. She had some playful spells like this, but she was never too interested in people. The relationship was on her terms, and for the most part, you just had to take it as a privilege to be able to watch her quietly as she went about whatever she was doing. I learned a lot from that.
